The iPhone Arrives

As expected, the official carrier of the iPhone in Canada is Rogers Wireless. Winnipeg Men was one of the first to get one of the smart phones in our hot little hands. (Check back later this week to see Glenn using his new iPhone)

For all the hype, what’s the big deal? Here’s a rundown on why you need the new iPhone 3G:

• Because the iPhone uses a protocol called HSDPA (high-speed downlink packet access), email attachments and web pages will load twice as fast over your cellular network.

• The iPhone automatically switches between Wi-Fi, 3G and EDGE networks, meaning you’ll always have the fastest download speed possible.

• The new MobileMe internet service pushes emails, contacts and calendars to your iPhone so you won’t need to manually check for email. The continuous updating also means any change you make on one of your devices is automatically updated on all your other devices.

• The new iPhone software allows for real-time mapping and GPS tracking, up to 24 hours of audio playback and the 3G technology lets you chat while you surf.
