Spring 2007
Written by Glenn Tinley
I remember back when all of the reports about new technology predicted that people would soon work four days a week and have more time for leisure. All of this free time would be created as technology helped us become more efficient. While I do think that some of this technology has made us more organized, many of us have filled that “free time” with more work.
Of course you can’t blame technology for taking what was supposed to be a four-day work week and turning it into a six-day work week. We choose to be accessible and available. In today’s instant gratification world, we have found a way to always be in the loop. I believe it was really the BlackBerry that brought about this change in paradigm. Prior to that, we only had the cellphone to stay connected. Heaven forbid that nowadays it takes you longer than 15 minutes to get back to someone who sent you an e-mail. This issue we take a look at some of these technologies and what they mean to us, how they really work, and whether we should be looking at them to help us.

Keeping with the technology theme, I want to bring your attention to our newly designed website. We are expanding our webcasting section to include an array of new things. From interviews with advertisers and business leaders to vehicle test drives, we will continue to build this area of the website to be the most comprehensive information resource you will find. Check out the innovative way that we have chosen to introduce it. I look forward to your feedback and a few e-mail jabs (that I will respond to immediately from my BlackBerry Pearl) about how the camera really does add ten pounds.

We have also chosen to help you keep your New Year’s resolution fitness goals by giving you some fashion tips for running. If your running shorts fit you like a Speedo, it is time for something new. This will give you some ideas.

I am looking forward to an exciting 2007. Elections are coming, the leaves are coming out and I am getting the itch to hit the golf course again. Don’t forget to vote, enjoy the freshness of spring and I hope you sink a few more birdie putts this year.
