EYE on the ARTS

On March 25, the Winnipeg Convention Centre played host to nearly 500 people at the Canadian National Institute for the Blind’s ninth annual Eye on the Arts gala. Hosted by Laurie Mustard, the evening was responsible for raising more than $45, 000 for CNIB’s programs and services for Manitobans living with vision loss. Bill Knight of Bill Knight Flooring & Carpet and Jeff Jones of Adesa Auctions Canada auctioneered over 250 pieces of art donated by local and national artists.

This past March, the Friends of the Canadian Museum of Human Rights received a substantial contribution in funds when Larry and Judy Tanenbaum, the Temerty Family Foundation and Donald MacDonald each donated $1 million to the CMHR. A Taste of Tuscany

A little bit of Tuscany will find a home in Whyte Ridge. After a month-long apprenticeship at a restaurant in Sienna, Italy, 529 Wellington Chef Mike Dacquisto has rekindled his passion to open an authentic Tuscan restaurant. Chef Mike and WOW! Hospitality will transform Pasta La Vista Kenaston to an upscale Italian restaurant. Chef Dacquisto is a first-time partner for WOW! and will oversee the kitchen in this venture, as well as continue his role as executive chef at 529. Renovations are expected to be complete for a late-summer opening.

WINNERS...

Congratulations to our latest contest winners:
Don Cooper can head outdoors to enjoy all the prairie has to offer, including paddling lessons or a tasty meal at the Buffalo Stone Café, thanks to a $75 gift certificate from FortWhyte Alive. The 20/20 photo was correctly identified by Enzo Diubaldo as The Centennial Concert Hall, and Jeff Snowdon and a friend will be rocking out to Rush at the MTS Centre.

NEW CONTEST

Tell us your most regrettable ‘80s fashion moment (you know–big hair, skinny jeans) and you could win two tickets to see Iron Maiden on June 9 at the MTS Centre.

If you’re less of a heavy-metal man, we’ve also got two tickets to see country music legend Charley Pride at the MTS Centre, June 11. If you know how many number-one hits Charley has had on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, you could be our winner.
