Product: Gilette Fusion Power Phantom

How often do you need to shave?: When I go to kiss my wife and she goes “Ugh! You need to shave!” So about every three days.

Your usual razor: Gillette Mach 3

Your usual shaving routing:
I start out by putting some Radiohead on the player. Soak my face with a hot towel for a moment. Apply shaving cream in a circular motion. Shave once down. Apply a second coating of shaving cream. Shave once up.

phantomBefore you used the razor did you think you would like it based on the name brand, packaging, etc? Absolutely, the Phantom sounds so international super spy.

What kind of shaving products do you use: Nivea for Men sensitive shaving foam.

Did the battery power do anything for you? Defintely, I didn’t feel the blades on my skin as much which resulted in less skin irritation.

How long did the shave last?: Two days.

Was this longer or shorter than usual?: Shorter but I didn’t have to go back afterwards and touch up where my usual razor misses.

How smooth was your face (according to your girlfriend/wife/partner)?: Very smooth, like a well groomed man and less like someone who is still learning how to shave.

Would you use this product again?: Yes, if I can ever get my wife to give it up. She was so impressed with how smooth my face was she had to try it out herself.

How often do you need to shave? Every three days or so – I have maintained a swarthy four-day beard look for years now, and only use razor blades to shave my neck smooth.

Your usual razor: Gillette Sensor.

phenomYour usual shaving routine: Get the skin all warmed and softened in the shower, then lather up and shave immediately after stepping out. I have a tougher than average beard, so I need to thoroughly prepare my skin.

Before you used the razor did you think you would like it based on the name brand, packaging, etc?: I was interested in it primarily because I’d never seen such a thing (a straight razor with a battery?!?) and hadn’t the foggiest notion of how it would work; I was curious.

What kind of shaving products did you use? A shaving soap from The Body Shop; I bought it bulk a couple of years ago, so I don’t remember the product name.

Did the battery power do anything for you? It was tingly. I think I liked it. I thought it might allow for a closer shave, but it didn’t seem to make a difference.

How long did the shave last? Was this longer or shorter than usual? About the same.

How smooth was your face (according to your girlfriend/wife/partner)? Ummmm, I didn’t solicit her opinion, I had to drop her off and I was already running late; if I had asked her to touch me she would probably have punched me.

Would you use this product again? I dunno. It wasn’t any better or worse than my normal razor, and I’m getting older, grumpier, and more set in my ways. Er, I guess that’s a no, really.
