Cheryl Wiebe is a licensed esthetician, with six years experience. She specializes in waxing at Total Wrapture Day Spa and answers our man-hair maintenance questions:

WM: My eyebrows are basically a uni. How can I stop looking like Burt?
CW: Come in for a quick eyebrow clean up. A lot of men are scared that they’ll come out with a beautifully arched, thin brow, but we are trained to do a man’s eyebrow. We’ll simply clean up the brows, so don’t worry, you won’t walk out of the spa looking continually surprised.

WM: I have a really hairy chest, back, arms, shoulders..well I’m just really hairy. What is involved in waxing?
CW: While it does hurt a bit, getting waxed is a really good idea, and you’ll feel more comfortable at the beach. It only takes about half an hour. Take an Advil before you come in, and don’t go in a hot tub or take a hot shower for the next 24 hours, as your skin will be a bit irritated, especially your first time.

WM: Once I get waxed, how often should I come back?
CW: I recommend getting waxed once a month. After the third wax, you will definitely see a difference in how the hair grows back. There won’t be as much, and it comes back lighter. It will also take less time after you’ve been a few times.

WM: I’m thinking about embracing man sandles, how should I prepare my feet?
CW: Get a pedicure. Because you probably don’t want polish, you get a longer soak and massage. Our products are designed to be unisex as well, so you won’t leave the spa smelling like lavender.

WM: I’ve never been to a spa, but now I’m interested. How do I get started?
CW: We have an evening just for men coming up in July, where you can come in and meet us, get services done, ask questions about future visits, and see that it is a really easygoing experience. The men’s night is on Wednesday, July 11 from 4 p.m.-9 p.m. Just give us a call.
