Fall menswear trends are inspired by vintage Italian style.
It has been said that the roots of fashion are planted firmly in Italy. In a nod to both the foundations of menswear and the vintage-inspired looks possibly made mainstream by shows like Mad Men and the upcoming movie Nine. Menswear for fall features a mix of retro and Italian inspiration.
This season the double-breasted suit returns to the stage. This time the line is slimmer with broad shoulders and a narrow waist, making the silhouette less boxy and fit to show off a well-worked body.
Suit, $1345; shirt by Forlini, $195; tie, $125; pocket square, $45 all from Hanford Drewitt, 354 Broadway, 957-1640. The classic three-piece suit also makes a re-appearance. Look for waistcoats in the same fabric as the rest of the suit, a slim cut and avoid pattern: pinstripes and solids work best.
