If you’re pulling a bit of a Clark Griswold this Christmas, testing the strength of your breakers and the patience of your neighbours, you may want to consider trading your old strings of bulbs for new LED lights.
According to Manitoba Hydro, LED (Light Emitting Diode) lights are way more efficient than your old incandescent ones, using 90 per cent less energy and lasting for 10 times as long. While they’re a bit hard to look at straight on, especially as you’re trying to wind them around the tree, LED bulbs are meant to be hassle-free, as they are shatterproof, shock resistant and don’t get nearly as hot as that string of lights you still have from the early ’70s. |
