Hands off my Heiny!
Written by Andrea Danelak
heinekenThere’s plenty of Heiny to go around now that Heineken draught kegs have hit local shelves. Now you can invite our favourite Dutch pilsner home to pour a pint at your leisure.

The single-use kegs keep beer fresh in your fridge or cooler for an impressive 30 days after tapping. How? I’m glad you asked. Their unique pressurized CO2 systems use internal carbonators that release carbon dioxide to ensure the proper level of carbonation and freshness when pouring. Translation: the beer is dispensed from the top of the keg with just the right amount of foam, so it will look good in your glass and taste as fresh as possible.

The keg’s top-tapping mechanism also allows you to set it up on any surface, be it the picnic table, kitchen counter or your lap while you watch poker on TSN.

The five-litre kegs hold enough beer for 20 eight-ounce glasses and must be chilled for 10 hours prior to use. You can find them across the province for $34.95, including deposit. Another bonus: the steel kegs are fully recyclable. We’ll drink to that!
