WM: Are there services available specifically for men?

MZ: We can do anything from in-office procedures like hair removal, laser skin treatment, Botox treatments or Restylane fillings for frown lines and acne scar reduction, to surgical procedures like liposuction for love handles or gynecomastia (male breasts), eyelid surgery to reduce bags under the eyes, face lifts and tummy tucks.

WM: What kind of costs are we looking at?

Z: In-office procedures are generally less expensive. The most common are Botox treatments, and these work out to between $150 and $300. Most procedures, such as filling in frown lines, for example, are about $200. Laser treatment to improve a person’s complexion – usually as a result of sun damage – typically runs at about $300. Liposuction can be substantially more expensive, running anywhere from $3,000 to $4,000. There are now less expensive alternatives to liposuction, however; a new material called LipoDissolve can be injected to dissolve fat, and the treatment can be performed in-office.

WM: Will there be scars to hide from the guys at work?

MZ: There are always going to be scars – eople need to realize this. That being said, there are also many misconceptions about what scars will be visible. People should also bear in mind that any surgical procedures are going to require them to take a week or two off of work.

WM: How do I know what I should get?

Z: People who come to my office basically fall into two categories. Some come in asking for a specific procedure. A common one is liposuction; however, this might not always be the best thing for them. For example, for a man who has lost some weight and wants a flatter stomach, a tummy tuck may actually be the better option. The other group that comes into the office are people saying things like, ‘People say I look tired,’ or, ‘I look older than I feel.’ In this case, what I do is give them a shopping list of options, and then they come in for a follow-up where we try to narrow things down to the best available choices. It’s often necessary to educate people.

WM: George Clooney is a good looking guy, can you make me look more like him?

MZ: When I meet someone I want to know what their expectations are. It’s not possible to make someone look like anyone other than themselves. What I’m trying to do is keep them looking like them, just a better version.
